How to check the patching status of third party applications on a specific device

  • Endpoint Manager allows you to manage patches and updates to Third party software on windows endpoints.

Process in brief:

  • Login to ITarian

  • Click ‘Applications’ > ‘Endpoint Manager’

  • Click ‘Devices’ > ‘ Device List’ > 'Device Management'

  • Click on the Windows device you want to check

  • Click 'Patch Management' > 'Third Party Applications'

Identify and review patches which have a status of 'Available'

  • Tip - Click the funnel icon on the right to filter patches by status
  • Select the patches you want to install

  • Click 'Install Patches'

Process in more detail

  • Open Endpoint Manager

  • Click ‘Devices’ > ‘ Device List’ > 'Device Management'

  • Click on the Windows device you want to check

  • Click 'Patch Management' > 'Third Party Applications'.

  • The following information is available about each application:

    • Software Name - Name of the application.

    • Vendor – Application publisher.

    • Software Category – Type of application. Types include:

      • Other

      • Online Storage

      • Documents

      • Developer Tools

      • File Compression utilities

      • Messaging

      • Utilities

      • Web Browsers

      • Runtime applications

      • Comodo Products

    • Installed Version - The version of the software which is currently installed on the endpoint

    • Installation Date - The date on which the application was installed on the endpoint

    • Latest Version Available – Most recent version of the application

    • Severity - The criticality of the patch. The possible levels are:

      • Unspecified

      • Moderate

      • Low

      • Important

      • Critical

    • Release Date - Date on which the vendor released the update/patch


  • Identify and review patches which have a status of 'Available'

    • Tip - Click the funnel icon on the right to filter patches by status

    Select the patches you want to install

  • Click 'Install Patches'

  • A command will be sent to the endpoint to schedule installation of the patch.

    • Once the command is received, Client Communication on the endpoint will first check whether the update is available on any other devices in the local network.
    • If available, Client Communication establishes a peer-to-peer network with the device and downloads the patch. This reduces bandwidth consumption as the update is sourced from the local network.
    • If the update is not available on the local network, Client Communication downloads the update from the Endpoint Manager patch portal.
