How to set Remote control options under profile

  • Remote Control lets you take-over Windows and Mac OS devices to solve issues, install third party software and run system maintenance.

  • You can take remote control of a device as follows:

    • Click ‘Devices’ > ‘ Device List’ > 'Device Management'

    • Select the device you want control

    • Click the 'Remote Control' tab

    • Install the remote control software if required

    • Connect to the target device

  • This tutorial explains how to configure Remote Control preferences in a profile. Options you can configure include:

    • Silent control - Take control without notifying the end-user

    • Ask then allow - Ask end-user permission but take control anyway if they don't respond within a set time

    • Ask then deny - Ask end-user permission but close the connection if they don't respond within a set time

    • Do not allow - Prohibit remote take-over of the target devices

    • Show notification - Show a message box on the target device that shows the name of the admin and the current duration of the connection. You can also allow the end-user to terminate the connection if required.

Process in brief:

  • Login to ITarian

  • Click ‘Applications’ > ‘Endpoint Manager’

  • Click ‘Configuration Templates’ > ‘Profiles'

  • Click the name of the Windows or MAC profile that you want to work on

  • Click 'Add Profile Section' > 'Remote Control' > Click the 'Remote Control' tab

  • Configure the following settings

    • Silent remote control

    • Ask permission then allow after NN seconds

    • Ask permission then deny after NN seconds

    • Do not allow remote control

  • Click 'Save'

Process in detail

  • Login to ITarian

  • Click ‘Applications’ > ‘Endpoint Manager’

  • Click ‘Configuration Templates’ > ‘Profiles'

  • Click the name of the Windows or MAC profile that you want to work on

  • Click 'Add Profile Section' > 'Remote Control':

  • Click 'Remote Control' tab
  • Configure Remote Control settings to take over remote control:

  • Silent remote control  Establish the remote connection without showing a request to a user.
  • Ask permission then allow after NN seconds – Show a message to the the user which requests them to accept the connection. The connection will be established if the user does not respond within the timeout period. Enter the timeout period (in seconds)
  1. Each time you attempt to take over a remote control the user will see the following message:

       3. Do not allow remote control – Disable remote control of the device.

  • Click 'Save'.
  • Each time you attempt to take over you will see 'This device is configured to reject remote connection' message.

      

  • 'Show notification to device user about who connected...' - Displays a message on the endpoint which tells the user that a remote session is active, and the name of the admin who is connected. You can also allow the user to terminate the connection if required.
