Introduction:

     The purpose of a Backup strategy is to protect the database against data loss and reconstruct the database after data loss. This wiki can simply explain how to do backup in windows machine

Manual Steps to create a backup in windows machine on the following :

Step1: Log into your server as an administrator and open Server Manager.
 

Step 2: Select Windows Server Backup from the Tools menu.


 

Step 3: In the right-hand Action window, click Backup Once.
 

   


Step 4: The Backup Once Wizard will open, on the Backup Options page leave Different Options select and click Next.

Step 5: Select if you would like to back up your entire server, or just a hard disk on your server, then click Next. If you selected to back up certain drives on your server, select these drives and click Next again.


Step 6: Select Remote shared folder, then click Next.

Step 7:Enter the path to your Fasthosts backup space in the text box provided.

A warning will appear if you already have a backup image located in your Fasthosts backup space. If you want to overwrite your existing backup click OK.

Step 8 : Next, you are asked to select the type of backup you want to create. If all your backups are created using the backup wizard, select VSS full backup. If you also use third party applications to back up your server select the VSS copy backup option. Once you have selected your backup type, click Next.

Step 9:You will be asked to confirm the details you have entered in earlier steps. Check these details are correct, then click Backup to start backing up your server.

Step 10 : You will see the progress of your backup options. Click Close to end the Wizard.

Once complete, you're backed up images will be available in your backup space at E:/WindowsImageBackup//
