How to understand Client security icons in the EM device list

Release Time
952 times

  • The Endpoint Manager 'Device List' area contains color-coded icons which represent the status of Comodo Client Security on an endpoint
  • The icons cover security and connection and patch status. Some of the icons allow you to take actions on the target device
  • The following article contains definitions for the various icons in the device list

Process in brief

  • Log into ITarian
  • Click ‘Applications’ > ‘Endpoint Manager’
  • Click 'Devices' > 'Device List'
  • There are three types of the icon you need to consider:
    • Connectivity - These are the dot icons to the left of the device name
    • Security - These are the shield icons to the right of the device name
    • Virtual Desktop  - These are icons in the 'Virtual Desktop' column
    • Patches - These are the icons in the 'Patch Status' column

Gray - Device is not reachable. The connection may be down or the endpoint is switched off.

Blue - Slow connection. The device is connected but commands and messages may take some time to execute since the endpoint is busy.

Green - Good connection. Commands should be executed in real time.

The security shield icon shows more detailed information about the security status of a device.

Yellow - CCS is not installed on the endpoint.

  • Click the shield icon to remotely install CCS
  • The 'Install Additional Comodo Packages' dialog will open:

  • CCS requires the endpoint to be restarted to complete the installation
  • Configure the 'Restart' options and click 'Install'.

Grey - Outdated clients. Comodo Client Communication (CCC) and/or Comodo Client Security (CCS) require updates.

Green -  The endpoint is secure. All installed components are up and running.

Red - The endpoint is at risk. A security component (AV, FW or Containment) may have been disabled by the user.

  • CCS security components are controlled by the device profile. If the component is enabled in the profile, then it will be automatically re-enabled on the endpoint in due course. EM checks and enforces profiles every few minutes.

Amber - The endpoint needs attention. The endpoint may need to be re-started after installing CCS.

Blue - CCS is running in 'Silent Mode'. Alerts and notifications are suppressed on the endpoint. This is useful if the user does not want to be interrupted when, for example, they are running a full-screen presentation. Protection remains running while in this mode.

Yellow Triangle - Communication with CCS on the endpoint has been lost.

Virtual Desktop icons:

There are three icons to indicate the status of the virtual desktop on the endpoint:

  • Virtual Desktop is running

  • Virtual Desktop is not running

  • Virtual Desktop is not supported

Patch icons

4 - The number indicates how many patches are available for the device. Click the number to view and manage the patches. See View and Install Windows and 3rd Party Application Patches for more details.

  - No patches required. All patches are up-to-date.

  - Critical patches are available. The number to the right shows how many are pending. Click the number to view and manage them.

  - Optional patches are available. Click the number to the right to view and manage the patches.
